Marine RGB strip lighting, done properly
The Fathom RGB Strip Light is a sealed IP68, 12-volt marine LED strip built for the places generic hardware-store tape gives up: gunwales, toe rails, under-gunwale trays, cockpit coamings, hardtops, and cabin steps. Thirty-six LEDs per foot mix the full color spectrum — and run all three channels together for full white, 1,200 lumens on the 10-foot section and 2,400 on the 20-foot. Cut it to fit in 1-inch increments and re-seal with the included silicone and end cap. Mount it with the 3M adhesive backing, the included clips and stainless screws, or both.

Pick by run length and by the current you have available. Both sections use the same 36-LED-per-foot strip, the same 12V input, and the same 2-foot 22 AWG lead — the 20-foot simply doubles the output and the draw. Either one can be cut shorter.

Run additional sections on their own feeds rather than daisy-chaining past 20 feet — it keeps voltage drop and current per circuit where they belong, so the far end of the strip stays as bright as the near end.

Built for salt, spray, and vibration
Most RGB strip is designed for a dry living room ceiling. This one is designed for a boat that gets washed down, pounded across a chop, and left in the sun.
01Full-Color RGB, Full White
Thirty-six LEDs per foot mix anything across the spectrum — light blue for looks, red to maintain your night vision, or something more vibrant for a sand bar party. Drive all three channels together and you get full white at 120 lumens per foot, bright enough to light everything.
02Mechanically Mounted
3M adhesive backing comes pre-applied, and mounting clips with stainless steel screws are in the box. Use the tape to position and hold the run, then screw the clips over it — belt and braces, so nothing lets go behind the gunwale halfway through the season.
03Cut To Fit, Then Re-Seal
Trim the run in 1-inch increments to land exactly where you want it, then close the cut end with the included silicone and end cap — the strip goes back to its full IP68 seal. No fixed lengths to design around.
04Clean 12V Install
Straight 12V DC on a 2-foot 22 AWG lead, 3.7A for the 10-foot section and 7.4A for the 20-foot. It wires into the accessory panel you already have, and both lengths stay inside a single standard circuit.

Hide the strip light, keep the output
Mounted under a gunwale, behind a toe rail, or along a coaming, the strip itself disappears and you're left with a clean wash of light across the deck. Run it down both sides for symmetry, or pick out a single feature line.

Can I use this RGB strip light on a boat?
That's what it was designed for. It's sealed to IP68, runs on standard 12V DC boat power, ships with stainless steel fasteners, and is rated from -25°F to 110°F. Intended locations are under-gunwale, toe rail, coaming, hardtop, cockpit, and cabin — and it works equally well on a trailer or dock running the same 12V system.
How much power does it draw?
The 10-foot section pulls 3.7 amps at 12V (44 watts). The 20-foot section pulls 7.4 amps (88 watts). Both fit comfortably on a normal accessory circuit — fuse each run for its own draw, and total up every section if you're feeding more than one from the same circuit.
How bright is it?
At full white — all three channels on together — 1,200 lumens for the 10-foot section and 2,400 for the 20-foot, roughly 120 lumens per foot and bright enough to work under. On a single color, output is 460 and 920 lumens respectively, the right level for accent and mood lighting without blinding anyone on deck.
How do you get white out of an RGB strip?
By running the red, green and blue channels together at full output. That combination gives you 1,200 lumens on the 10-foot section and 2,400 on the 20-foot — real working light from the same strip that handles your color, with no second run of white-only tape to install.
How long a run can I do?
20 feet is the maximum length for a single run. Longer installations should use separate sections on their own feeds rather than one continuous chain — that keeps voltage drop under control so the end of the run is as bright as the beginning.
Can I cut it to length?
Yes — in 1-inch increments, anywhere along the run. Cut it where you need it, then re-seal the end with the included silicone and end cap and the strip stays sealed to its IP68 rating. That means one part number covers an exact-fit install instead of forcing you into fixed lengths.
Do I need a controller, and which one?

How does it mount?
Two ways, and we recommend both. 3M adhesive backing is pre-applied for positioning and holding the run, and mounting clips with stainless steel screws are included to lock it down mechanically. Tape alone is the common failure point on marine strip — heat, washdowns, and pounding eventually beat it — so screw the clips over the top and it stays where you put it.
What's covered by the warranty?
The Fathom RGB Strip Light carries a 5-year warranty against defects in materials and workmanship in normal use. Damage from improper installation, exceeding the 12V input, or reverse polarity isn't covered.
