Which video port does your display have?

Which night vision camera is best for my chartplotter?

Both Nitron cameras connect the same way, so the choice comes down to where you run. Inshore and coastal, the XR1 is the popular pick. Far offshore on the darkest nights, the XD Pro has the more sensitive sensor and a wider view. Add an IR light to either camera for runs with no ambient light.

What is the best night vision camera for my chartplotter?

The best camera is one your display can show and that fits how you run. Most chartplotters with a video input take either Nitron camera. Inshore and coastal, most boaters choose the Nitron XR1. Far offshore on the darkest nights, the Nitron XD Pro has the more sensitive sensor and a wider view. Pick your display above to see which version, Analog or HDMI, to order.

What comes in the box with a Nitron camera?

The camera, a 25 ft harness with a 4-pin quick connect, a video lead that ends in a standard BNC (coax) connector on the Analog version or an HDMI connector on the HDMI version, red and black 12V DC leads, a BNC to RCA adapter, and stainless mounting screws. The XD Pro adds a 5 A inline fuse, an anodized aluminum mount and dielectric grease.

Do I need any other adapters, connections or cables?

Most Garmin GPSMAP, Raymarine Axiom Pro, Axiom XL and eS, and Simrad NSO displays need nothing else. Simrad NSS evo2, evo3 and evo3S, and B&G Zeus3S, need the video/data cable, part 000-00129-001. Lowrance HDS displays need the Lowrance Video Adapter Cable, part 000-11010-001, for analog video. Humminbird APEX needs the AD HDMI IN 10 cable, part 720119-1. How do I know if I need the Analog or HDMI camera?

Your display's video input decides it. A BNC or RCA video input takes the Analog version. An HDMI input takes the HDMI version. If your display has both, either version works.

My display has an HDMI port. Why does the chart say Analog?

Many displays have an HDMI output only, used to send the screen to a second monitor. An output port cannot receive a camera. Garmin GPSMAP 1243xsv and 1643xsv, Simrad NSS evo3 12 and 16, and Raymarine Axiom 2 Pro are common examples. Order the Analog version for those.

Does the Simrad NSO evo3S take the HDMI camera?

The NSO evo3S 16 and 19 inch displays have an HDMI input and two BNC video inputs, so either version works. The NSO evo3S MPU processor box has BNC video inputs and an HDMI output only, so order the Analog version for the processor.

My display is not listed. What do I do?

Will a Nitron camera work with a network or IP camera input?

No. Nitron cameras send analog or HDMI video, not a network (IP) feed. Displays that only take IP cameras over Ethernet, such as Simrad NSX and B&G Zeus S, cannot show a Nitron camera.

Can I see the camera on more than one display?

Plan on the picture showing on the display the camera is wired to. Garmin shares analog video across the Garmin Marine Network, while most brands do not share HDMI video. Tell us your setup and we will help you plan it.

I am mounting the camera upside down under a T-top. Will the picture be right side up?

Yes. Order the undermount build and we set the camera up for inverted mounting. Some displays can also flip the image in their settings.
