LED Emergency Strobe Lights
Compact LED strobe lights and amber warning beacons for vehicles that need a warning signal without a full-width light bar. These are the surface-mount, grille, deck and magnetic-mount options in the Black Oak emergency line, all running Generation IV LEDs behind TIR optics in IP69K-sealed housings.
Strobe, beacon, or mini light bar?
The distinction is coverage. A strobe head is a single-direction warning light you mount in multiples: grille, mirror, deck, rear bumper. A beacon is a 360-degree single-point warning for a vehicle that only needs one light. A mini light bar gives you multi-section directional control in one unit.
| Product | Coverage | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| XDR-5 strobe | Directional surface mount | Grille, mirror, bumper and deck arrays |
| XDR-4 strobe | Directional surface mount, compact | Tight grille openings and hideaway positions |
| XDR-4 beacon | 360 degrees | Service trucks, forklifts, farm and yard equipment |
| XDR-2 mini beacon | 360 degrees, compact | Smaller vehicles and temporary magnetic use |
| XDR-48 | Directional, up to 3 colors | Multi-color builds in one housing |
| 17" Low Pro | Multi-section directional | Interior deck, dash and unmarked vehicles |
Color and the law
Amber is unrestricted for tow, construction, utility, plow and agricultural vehicles in all fifty states and needs no permit. Red and blue are reserved for authorized emergency vehicles and generally require department authorization. Check your state code before ordering a red or blue configuration, and see our amber light bars if you need a legal option for a work vehicle.

Frequently asked questions
How many strobe heads do I need?
Four is the practical minimum for all-around coverage: two forward in the grille and two rear. Six to eight gives you side coverage at intersections, which matters most on wide vehicles.
Can I sync multiple strobes to the same pattern?
Yes. Heads wired to the same controller run in sync, and you can assign opposing pairs to alternate.
Is a beacon enough on its own?
For a slow-moving yard, farm or service vehicle, usually yes, since a 360-degree beacon signals from every approach. For highway-speed work, add directional strobes facing traffic.
Do the magnetic mounts hold at highway speed?
The magnetic beacon mounts are rated for highway use on a clean, flat steel surface. For permanent installations we recommend the through-bolt mount.
