What size light bar for fire and EMS apparatus?
Apparatus cabs and ambulance boxes are wider than patrol vehicles, so fire and EMS builds skew toward the long bars. Volunteer POVs are the opposite case, where a 17" or 30" on a magnetic mount is usually the right answer.

Color law for fire and EMS
Red is the near-universal fire and EMS color in the United States, and red combined with white is standard on apparatus. The restriction that catches people out is the volunteer POV: many states allow a volunteer firefighter to run red or blue on a personal vehicle only with a department-issued permit, and a handful assign blue to volunteers and reserve red for the apparatus itself. Verify your state code and your department's standard operating guideline before you order.

Frequently asked questions
Can a volunteer firefighter run red and white on a personal vehicle?
In most states yes, with a permit issued by the fire department or the state fire marshal. Some states restrict volunteers to blue only. Check your state statute before purchasing, and keep the permit in the vehicle.
Do these pass hose-down and pressure-wash cleaning?
Yes. IP69K is the rating specifically for high-pressure, high-temperature washdown, which is why we use it rather than IP67 on apparatus-grade bars.
Can I get white takedowns and scene lighting in the same bar?
Red & White configurations put white modules in the bar that can be run as steady-burn scene or takedown lighting independently of the warning pattern.
What is the difference between the 61" and 68" and the shorter bars?
The 61" and 68" are built around full apparatus width and include rear-facing tow-package sections. They are offered in fewer color combinations because they are configured for scene and blocking work rather than general patrol.
