Light that carries through the water
The FL6 is the surface-mount underwater light in the Black Oak Marine line — six LEDs behind a 65° Hydro Block lens, driven at 40 watts, housed in a body milled from solid AB2 bronze. It installs through a single cable entry hole and three screws, in the transom, the hull, or on any flat surface above or below the waterline. Available in White, Deep Blue, and RGB color-changing.

Underwater lights fail at the seams and at the driver. The FL6 addresses both — a bronze body that belongs in seawater, and protection circuitry built into the light rather than bolted on downstream.
01Milled AB2 Bronze Body
Machined from solid AB2 aluminium bronze — the alloy used for propellers and thru-hull fittings. It resists saltwater corrosion and sinks heat away from the LEDs instead of trapping it.

How do I know these lights are high quality?
IP68, IP69, and IP69K are pass/fail standards, not descriptions — they cover water ingress, temperature, pressure, and brute force. The FL6 carries all three, and the body is milled from solid AB2 bronze, the same alloy family used for props and thru-hull fittings.
Do the underwater lights come with a harness?
No. Each light has a spliced pigtail and needs wiring and a switch to be operational. Wiring kits and switches are available as add-ons.
Does it need a thru-hull cutout?
No. The FL6 is a surface-mount fixture — it needs one cable entry hole and three mounting screws on any flat surface, above or below the waterline.
How do the RGB lights change color?
The RGB version cycles through colors from a simple on/off switch — no separate controller is required to run it.
How many lights do I need?
A pair on the transom is the most common setup and gives a balanced wash behind the boat. Larger vessels and dedicated fishing setups typically run three to four. The FL6 is recommended for vessels up to 65 feet.
Can I run it out of the water?
Yes. The FL6 is rated for use in and out of the water, and active thermal rollback protects the LEDs when there's no water to carry heat away.

The lights are crazy bright! I use the lights for safety and ease of navigation, they have allowed me to be better aware of my surroundings when navigating at night.
Heavy and Bright!
I am was pretty blown away by how heavy this thing is. The construction seems super solid and there isn't much that will be exposed to the water that can corrode(always good in the salt). These are also really bright, and throw crazy far in clear water.
