Twice the light, same cutout
The FL12 is the high-output member of the Black Oak Marine surface-mount family. Twelve LEDs pushing 8,000 raw lumens at 55 watts, aimed by a 65° main collimator optic with a halo ring around the beam — an optical package designed to keep light in the water and project it farther instead of scattering it at the surface. The housing is the same ultra-compact 4.3-inch bronze body as the FL6, so it drops into the same transom, side, or hull location with one cable hole and three screws. Available in White, Deep Blue, and dual-color Blue/White.
Where the output goes
Lumens are easy. Aiming them isn't.
Raw output alone doesn't put light where fish are. The FL12 pairs a high-density LED array with a collimating optic, then wraps it in a body that can live in seawater indefinitely.

Transom, side, or hull
The low-profile bronze body suits every hull type — mount a pair on the transom, run them down the sides of a larger vessel, or flush-mount above the waterline for accent light. Two lights is the common starting point; three to four is typical on bigger boats and dedicated fishing rigs.

Questions, answered
FL6 or FL12 — which one do I want?
Same housing, same install, different output. The FL6 puts out 4,100 raw lumens from 6 LEDs at 40 watts; the FL12 puts out 8,000 from 12 LEDs at 55 watts. Choose the FL12 when you're fishing deeper or dirtier water, running fewer fixtures, or simply want the most light per hole. Choose the FL6 when you're running several lights on a tighter electrical budget.
How do I switch colors on the Blue/White version?
With the switch you already have. The light runs off a standard on/off switch — flick it off and immediately back on and it advances to the next color, then cycles back. There's no controller, no second circuit, and no additional wiring to run.
What does the collimator optic actually do?
It collimates — straightens — the light into a controlled 65° cone instead of letting it scatter in every direction, with a halo ring softening the edge. More of the 8,000 lumens stay in the water column and travel outward, which is what gives the FL12 its reach in clear water.
How do I know these lights are high quality?
IP68, IP69, and IP69K are pass/fail test standards, not adjectives — they cover water ingress, temperature, pressure, and brute force. The FL12 carries all three, in a body milled from solid AB2 bronze.
Do the underwater lights come with a harness?
No. Each light has a spliced pigtail and needs wiring and a switch to be operational. Harnesses and switches are available as add-ons.
Does it need a thru-hull cutout?
No. The FL12 is a surface-mount fixture — one cable entry hole and three mounting screws on any flat surface, above or below the waterline, on any hull type.
Can I run it out of the water?
Yes. The FL12 is rated for use in and out of the water, and active thermal rollback protects the array when there's no water to carry heat away.
What does the warranty cover?

I couldn’t believe the quality of the LED light and how well it lite up the boat. After turning on the strobe light I’ve been anticipating running out at 1am with the boys jamming out! I use the light for running offshore. I have a charter business and having red gunnel lights helps save the night vision if you need to see. The underwater light serves as a duel purpose for me. Blue/white looks awesome running, and the White light attracts fish when we are off shore!

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah! I spend countless hours on the stairs between the cockpit and swim platform watching minnows and tadpoles attracted to the light. Predator perch, rockfish and catfish provide snapping sounds as they feast. The herons then take advantage of the scene. Without those amazing lights (both underwater and above board!), the "show" that is life would be much less appealing!

After seeing what this can do in the water I was excited to get one in my hands. The craftsmanship on this unit is absolutely phenomenal and the light output packs a serious punch! This unit is slightly larger in diameter that other lights however it is much flatter. Overall a great transom light
